Slow down, let go and nurture yourself as we move towards the winter solstice

This time of year can often leave us feeling frazzled, exhausted and depleted by the short days, cold weather and build up to the Christmas festivities. So rather than do more, it can be really beneficial to press pause and do less.

As we approach the Mid-Winter Solstice and the end of another year, why not take some time out to slow down, turn inwards, let go and soothe your mind, body and nervous system.

As the busyness of the outside world become even more intense at this time of year, this workshop will allow you to step away from this, settling the body and mind into stillness and so you can find your own peaceful inner sanctuary, which you can then carry with you into the coming weeks ahead.

You can set yourself up in a warm and comfortable place, we’ll light some candles, you can switch off your phone, and we’ll gather cushions and blankets to make things as cosy as possible.

We will start with some gentle and somatic movement to release tightness and and holding, before allowing the body to soak up some much-needed deep rest in a sequence of restorative poses to help recoup and restore our energy, followed by a long, deeply relaxing and restorative yoga nidra practice (deep yoga sleep).

The restorative sequence will help you to find a sense of profound inner stillness and to surrender any deeply held tension in the body. It will also be very beneficial if you are suffering from fatigue and depleted mental and physical energy and is a perfect practice for this time of year.

You will finish the practice feeling nourished, replenished, deeply rested and ready to move forward from a calmer and more centred place into the festive season ahead.

“Retire to the centre of your being, which is calmness”
